Friday night music and film for Detroiters
A friend recently mentioned they’re surprised no event was jumping out for Friday night on this year’s Movement itinerary. Well, here you go. Granted it won’t keep you partying until 6 am, but hey, that’s what Saturday, Sunday and Monday are for.
Carl Craig Foundation and Planet E Communications in association with The Detroit Techno Foundation present 2010: A Detroit Odyssey, A Night of Film & Music at Detroit’s Music Hall. Accompanied by a live performance by Timeline (aka Mike Banks of Underground Resistance), the main event is a quadruple feature of Detroit electronic music and history: Cycles of the Mental Machine, Metropolis (re-envisioned with soundtrack by Jeff Mills), Timeless Suite for Ma Dukes (the music of J Dilla) and The Drive Home: The Story of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.
The event goes from 7pm to Midnight on Friday the 28th and is free of charge. Held at Detroit Music Hall: 350 Madison St. For info or directions, check out musichall.org
