BIOGRAPHY
Starting out as a bass player both on the electric bass and upright bass playing in a chamber orchestra, Nate Mars developed an ear for composition as well as “where the bass fits in a mix” at an early age. In the mid 90s he began to produce drum and bass, eventually moving into dubstep and other incarnations of bass music.
In April of 2010, Mars released his debut album entitled “Concentric Circles,” an album rooted in sound design and orchestration within often-unexpected pop sensibility not typical in bass music. It features several MC’s and vocalists including Dub War resident Juakali, Noble Society Singer/Dutty Artz artist Jahdan Blakkamoore, UK Grime artist Nika D of Virus Syndicate, as well as Global Underground artist Sissy and roots reggae songwriter Junior Culture. His song “Above & Beyond Dem feat. Jahdan Blakkamoore was licensed by UK label/Club Fabric in 2009 and his track “Higher To The Bass” was also recently included on a compilation called Stateside Steppas, alongside the likes of Subswara, Eskmo, EPROM, Freeland, DZ and more.
